Hay Bailing with Ol’ Red is inspired by the rolling farmland in the Finger lakes region of Upstate, NY. It depicts an old red tractor after its long day bailing hay in the field. In the back-round you can find a red-roofed barn and distant hills. Take a gander in the upper right and you’ll spot some migrating geese! While this landscape is fictitious, it brings me back to real memories I have riding my own family’s tractor around our horse farm, and the many hours spent running around my best friend, Molly’s, family’s sheep farm.
This work is made using colored pencils, paper, matte varnish on canvas. It is framed in a maple wood floater frame. It’s framed dimensions are roughly 21”x17”x2”.
